Pig Rock Sausage is a company that first and foremost was created off of the belief that food should be made the best that it can be. Art Welch, a chef and the founder of the Boston-based company, was classically trained at the Culinary Institute of America and believes making great food is all about discipline and having an eye for detail.

5 years ago, Art was sampling sausages to try and find one that he liked enough to cook within restaurants. However, nothing blew him away and a mission to create the best-tasting sausage was born. Sixteen months later, his extensive culinary skills crafted sausages that were composed of the cleanest ingredients he could find.

“When we started, we put a lot of time and research into finding the cleanest products to put in the sausage.” Art described. Pig Rock Sausages prides itself on offering a product that people are really going to enjoy and be happy with. A lot of companies use extra unnecessary ingredients and additives in their sausages. For instance, adding extra oil and other ingredients when mixing garlic into the meat. Pig Rock simply puts the clean garlic into its recipe with nothing extra.

Art mentioned a time where he saw a woman in a grocery store with 8 packets of Pig Rock Sausage in her cart. He walked up to her while not wearing anything identifying himself as the owner and commented on the sausage. The woman replied telling him how unbelievably clean and amazing the sausages are.

Pig Rock Sausages are different than any other sausages that are on the market because Art avoids using trim meat and only uses muscle meats, which gives the sausage a clean and smooth texture that meat-lovers adore. The feedback that Pig Rock has gotten from people that have tried their sausages is extremely positive--even from people that say they typically don’t like sausage. The uniqueness of the natural and clean products that go into Pig Rock sausage are unlike any other.

The slogan of Pig Rock Sausages is “Stuffed in Boston” ...  reflecting its traditional Boston roots. Ever since its opening, Pig Rock has been motivated to get its sausage fed to as many people as possible so they can experience the highest quality sausage on the market. Although like many companies, Pig Rock’s business slowed when COVID-19 hit because it mainly had its sausages in restaurants and hotels. However, Art used this opportunity to merely shift the direction of sales. Pig Rock is now available in around 30 grocery stores in the Boston area (and growing). Art plans that in the future Pig Rock will be sold in more grocery stores and go back into restaurants/hotels when the pandemic eases. Pig Rock is only going up from here and becoming more popular as more people try their top of the line sausage.

The different types of sausages Pig Rock sells include classic Sweet & Hot Italian. Current flavors include Chicken & Maple Sausage, Turkey & Cranberry Sausage, Bratwurst, Sweet & Hot Italian, Chipotle Chicken & Lime Sausage, Breakfast Sausage, Merguez, Chicken & Apple, Mexican Style Fresh Chorizo & Chicken, Spinach & Sundried tomato.
