Bringing Back the Beat πŸ•ΊπŸŽ‰ Cambridge City's Dance Party Returns

Are you ready to dance the night away and celebrate the beginning of summer? If you're in the Cambridge area, mark your calendars for Friday, June 23, because the highly anticipated Dance Party is back after a long hiatus due to COVID-19.

Join thousands as they gather on Mass Ave in front of Cambridge City Hall for an evening filled with music & dance. This fantastic event is free and open to the public.

Cambridge City's Dance Party has been a great tradition since it started in 1996 as part of the city's 150th-anniversary celebration. Over the years, it has become a cherished event that brings together people of all ages and backgrounds. The Dance Party has always been the perfect opportunity for the Cambridge community to come together.

The party will kick off at 6 p.m. and continue until 10 p.m., giving you plenty of time to showcase your dance moves. To make it convenient for people, the event will take place right in front of Cambridge City Hall, located at 795 Mass Ave. If you're using public transportation, just take the Red Line to Central Square, and the City Hall is just two blocks away.

This year, the Dance Party is partnering with the Cambridge Play Streets initiative and the Central Square Business Improvement District (BID) to provide free interactive activities for families. Head over to the corner of Temple Street and Mass Ave to find all that. It's a great opportunity for kids and adults to play games, do crafts, and other family-friendly fun.

Once the sun sets, the atmosphere will become even more enchanting as colorful lights illuminate the dance floor. The DJ will keep the energy high and the music pumping, so that everyone can let loose and have a great time. With the support of various city departments, including the City Manager's Office, Cambridge Arts, and the Central Square BID, this year's Dance Party will be unforgettable.

It's important to remember that Mass Ave will be closed to traffic from Prospect Street to Lee Street during the party, from approximately 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. This closure makes sure everyone is safe dancing in the streets!

Additionally, if you usually rely on the #1 Bus Line between Central Square and Harvard Square, please be aware that the route will be temporarily rerouted from approximately 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. There will be no stop at Cambridge City Hall during this time, so plan your travel accordingly.

So, mark your calendar, gather your friends and family, and come down to Massachusetts Avenue for an evening of non-stop dancing! Celebrate the return of this great event as you jam under the starry summer sky.
