Cruel Summertime Sadness: A Tribute to Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey

Lost your lust for life? Feel like you were born to die? Teardrops on your guitar? Maybe you need to calm down, shake it off, and ride to the dark paradise of Somerville to see your wildest dreams come true!

Local vocal powerhouses Cara Brindisi and Niki Luparelli supercollide in a headliner double feature, amidst a bevy of burlesque and drag performers, to celebrate mega superstars Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey with an explosion of kinetic covers at the Somerville Theatre Main Stage on Saturday, July 8, at 9 p.m.

Take a midsummer break from playing video games and getting high by the beach and ride to the Somerville Theatre for an exhilarating evening of burlesque and drag and the hits of Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift!

Singer/songwriter Cara Brindisi, hot off NBC’s The Voice, joins comic chanteuse Niki Luparelli, a longtime purveyor of pulchritudinous tributes to music superstars, to bring to the Somerville an extravaganza of interpretations of Taylor’s and Lana’s greatest hits.

Cara—described as “perfect” by John Legend and “hypnotic” by Blake Shelton—will employ the entirety of her phenomenal vocal range, along with her trusty guitar and live band, to channel Her Swiftness.

Niki—praised by Jane Lynch: “Amazing! YES, REALLY!”, and by The Monkees’ Davy Jones: “Wow, You smell really good!” — has expanded her usual backup band (which galvanized her previous burlesque tributes to Bowie, Zeppelin, Stevie Nicks, and Pink Floyd) by adding a string quartet and harpist, to form the electrifying twelve-piece Summer Sadness Orchestra to help her bring Del Ray to life, and is currently the #1 Lana Tribute Act in the World!
