THE GROUPS
First, you’ve got Boston Blockchain Association, a group of academics, techies, and crypto freaks who are all about spreading the gospel of blockchain. They are so serious about this stuff, they'd rather talk about crypto than really anything. Another important crypto group is the Boston Crypto Party. This grassroots organization is all about digital privacy, security, and freedom, and they're dedicated to helping people understand the risks and challenges of living in a connected world. They're also active in the political sphere, advocating for policies that protect people's privacy and limit government surveillance. Then there’s the Boston Bitcoin Meetup. This group brings together people who are passionate about Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies, and blockchain technology. They host regular events where attendees can hear from experts in the field, network with other crypto enthusiasts, and learn about the latest developments in the industry.
THE CLASSES
Then there's the Blockchain Development Bootcamp at MIT, which is like boot camp for the brain. They'll teach you everything you need to know about crypto and blockchain, and you'll come out smarter than a bag of Harvard professors. Another fantastic crypto class in Boston is the Blockchain Fundamentals course at General Assembly. This course is perfect for anyone who wants to learn the basics of blockchain technology, including its history, concepts, and applications. Over 10 weeks, students dive deep into the world of blockchain, exploring topics like consensus algorithms, smart contracts, and decentralized applications. They'll also get hands-on experience with popular blockchain platforms like Ethereum and Hyperledger. Then there’s the Cryptocurrency Trading and Investing course at BU. This course teaches the fundamentals of trading and investing in cryptocurrencies, with a focus on risk management and portfolio diversification. Students learn about different trading strategies, technical analysis, and fundamental analysis, as well as how to navigate the volatile crypto market.
CRYPTO PEEPS
And finally, there’s the people. We got some serious heavyweights in this scene, like Brock Pierce, who's been making it rain in Bitcoin. And then there’s "Crypto Queen" Amber Baldet. She's a powerhouse in the industry, having worked for companies like J.P. Morgan and Clovyr. Now, she's leading her own blockchain company, giving talks and mentoring newbies, and showing the world how it's done. And we can’t forget John Hargrave, the self-proclaimed "CEO of Media Shower" and an all-around funny guy. He's been a fixture in the Boston crypto scene for years, known for his irreverent humor and his willingness to poke fun at the sometimes-serious world of cryptocurrency. And lastly, (not really, there are a lot more - too many to fit here) we’ve got Neha Narula. She's the Director of the Digital Currency Initiative at MIT, and one of the most respected voices in the world of blockchain and cryptocurrency.
