When it rains, it pours especially on National Tequila Day. So yesterday what better way to celebrate than to indulge on tacos, tequila and margaritas. And the place to be last left an impression, so I give to you, the Yellow Door Taqueria!

Yellow Door Taqueria

What used to be Dark Horse Antiques nestled in Dorchester's iconic Lower Mills has now transformed into a cantina full of Mexi-Cali flavor that breathes new life into an area that has seen a recent growth into the modern day.

From it's rustic decor to the hispanic and latino vibes from the music playing, Yellow Door becomes a tour-de-force with a wide selection of ceviche, salads and their tacos; all served on made in-house tortillas with various flavors rotating by the season, from vegetable, seafood, carnitas, braised beef and pork, even gluten-free options. (Taco fans rejoice!)

My experience here was one not to forget. Walking in it was simple, and they were packed. Great signs of an opening day. We got seated quickly and our server was a total charm! I quickly got lost in the moment of it all, ordering fish tacos and about 1...2...3 tequila shots and the margaritas keep flowing after that. The food itself was great, and when they say made in-house tortillas, they meant it. Rich flavor, good portions and great combinations of ingredients made it a meal to remember.

Like a beacon of hope. Yellow Door's neon sign can be seen from way in the distance if you're near the area at night.

The menu is definitely fairly priced around $4-$5 for a single taco, $12 for their specialty cocktails and $11 for a margaritas, but the menu offers a lot with a wide selection of craft beers on tap, a good selection of imported cervezas in bottles and a fair sized wine list of a few brands I recognized to be enjoyable.

In the end epic decor of luchador masks lining the shelves, the Spanish beats, the flowing tequila, great service and the trip to flavor town all made our hefty bill worth it and Yellow Door Taqueria certainly feels like an oasis away from home.

You can count on me to be back and certainly all of you young (BOS)tonians need to check it out!

It's almost like a sign from God himself.
